Items to bring on a Backpack Campout
Backpack & Sleeping Items:
_____ BACKPACK - Must be REI Wonderland or equivalent
_____ * SLEEPING BAG - Good to +20 degrees
- Must be able to strap to the pack, no bungee cords
- Wrap in a plastic bag, inside stuff sack
_____ ENSOLITE PAD or ThermoRest
_____ THREE PLASTIC GARBAGE BAGS
_____ TWINE OR NYLON CORD - 50 feet
Food and Eating Utensils:
_____ FIRST DAY SACK LUNCH
_____ EATING UTENSILS - Cup, bowl, spoon

_____ POCKET KNIFE - Must have totin' chit card
_____ FIRST AID KIT - Include Band-Aids, moleskin, personal items needed
_____ * EXTRA CLOTHING - Plan for a weather change - see list below
_____ RAIN GEAR
_____ Waterbottle - Green plastic oasis bottle with clip
_____ FLASHLIGHT AND EXTRA BATTERIES - Tape switch off (head lamp good)
_____ TRAIL FOOD - Plan for a longer trip than you expect
_____ MATCHES AND FIRE STARTER
_____ SUNGLASSES AND SUNSCREEN
_____ MAP, COMPASS & WHISTLE
Clothing:
_____ * COMPLETE CHANGE OF CLOTHES - Wrapped in ziplock bag, including:
_____ GOOD PAIR OF HIKING BOOTS
_____ Wool shirt or sweatshirt
_____ Long pants
_____ Hiking shorts (to be worn)
_____ Underwear
_____ SOCKS - Always wear two pair, -Inner socks should be thin polypropyl Outer socks should be wool
_____ Bring extra pairs in ziplock bags
_____ Wool knit hat, Gloves (light weight)
_____ * CAMP SHOES - Like tennis shoes
_____ Coat or Jacket
_____ HAT - With some type of bill
Personal Items:
_____ * TOILET PAPER & hand trowl
_____ TOOTHBRUSH AND TOOTHPASTE, TOWEL, WASHCLOTH AND SOAP
_____ MOSQUITO REPELLENT - With 80 to 100% Deet

Scoutbook, pop, candy or gum
Anything else not on this list without approval of the Scoutmaster
