This policy was approved by the Troop 870 Committee and made part of the Troop 870 Bylaws .
- The official website for Troop 870 is beavertontroop870.org
- The troop website does not take the place of any BSA communication means such as committee meetings,
Scoutmaster conferences, council and national media channels or others.- The website exists for sharing information among Troop 870 members and families. It serves a secondary
purpose as resource for both Scouting and non-Scouting related individuals around the world.- The Troop 870 website will contain both public and private areas. Public areas are available to anyone
who connects to the website.- In public areas of the website:
- Scouts names will be first name only. Full names of adult leaders will be used only with permission.
- Pictures of scouts will only be used with permission.
- Calendars will only show the activity and not the location or other details.
- Private areas require a password to access restricted information:
- Roster information (Full names and addresses, phone numbers, etc)
- Committee meeting minutes
- Detailed Activity information.
- Personal e-mail addresses of Scouts and Leaders will not be used.
- Responsibility for the website content, organization and operation is that of the Troop 870 Webmaster,
the assigned adult advisor operating under direction of the Committee Chair and the Scoutmaster.- Parents or guardians of troop members and each registered leader will be required to sign the
Troop 870 e-Scouting Consent" form. They will have the option to approve or disapprove the use
of their photo or name in public areas of the website.
This policy may be amended at any time by the Troop 870 committee.
